Librado Andrade Set To Face Donovan George
IBF Super Middleweight Title Shot To The Winner
By William Trillo
Librado Andrade (30-4, 23 KO's) vs. Donovan George (22-1-1, 19 KO's ) is
set to take place on December 17th in Mexico. The IBF has sanctioned the
bout as their 168 pound title eliminator and the winner will look to face
the winner of Lucian Bute vs. Glen Johnson, that bout is set to take place
in November. As we know Andrade has a bit of history with Bute and the
chance of a third fight between the two is a very real
possibility. Of course Andrade will have to get by a hard hitting fighter
known as "The Bomb", an alias that suits the hard hitting fighter from
Chicago very well. The fight that will be televised in Mexico and the USA
should be a very entertaining bout.

By William Trillo
Promoters: Golden Boy Promotions & Leon Tijuana Boxing
You couldn't have written this story any better as hometown hero's Librado
Andrade & Enrique Ornelas fought in their hometown and delivered crowd
pleasing victories in a full house in Leon, Mexico.
In the main event Andrade (29-4,22 KO's) took on Matt O'Brien (18-2, 7 KO's)
for the vacant WBC Super Middleweight Intercontinental belt. Showing no
signs of discouragement after his recent loss Andrade jumped all over
O'Brien from the onset. Looking like the Andrade the fans have come to know
and love, the tough warrior from Jesus Del Monte had no problem getting into
a give and take battle with the tough Canadian.

Andrade Halts Lucas Comeback
Bell For Round 9 Goes Unanswered
Promoter: Jean Bedard : Interbox
Report & Photos By William Trillo
Super middleweight Eric Lucas (39-8-3,15 KO’s) wanted a real test to see if
his comeback had any promise, so he chose top ten ranked Librado Andrade
(29-3,22 KO’s). Although Andrade had proved himself as a World Class fighter
with a titanic set of whiskers the thinking in Quebec was that the defeat to
IBF Super Middleweight Champ Lucian Bute had rendered Librado “Gun Shy”
according to trainer Stephan Larouche. It was a notion that Larouche
admitted to being wrong about and it was just as clear to the over 8,100 in
attendance at Quebec’s Pepsi Coliseum that Andrade is still the same
formidable foe he has been in his last 4 fights in Canada, maybe better.

Librado Andrade (now 29-3, 22 KO's) bounced back from his knockout loss
to Lucian Bute last November with an 8th round stoppage over the always
tough Eric Lucas. The fight had some close action for 6 rounds with both men
landing big fire on each other, but it would be Andrade's punches causing
the most damage. Multiple cuts opened over the left eye of Lucas, streaming
blood down his face in rounds 7 and 8, Andrade's best rounds and biggest
turn around in the fight. The fight was called off after the 8th in the
corner of Lucas who falls to 39-8-3 with 15 KO's.

Bute Stays Unbeaten With 4th Round KO
By Nat Gottlieb
The last time Lucian Bute fought Librado Andrade he won a unanimous decision
that was tainted by a 12th round controversy. This time Bute beat Andrade
without any ifs, ands or buts, knocking out the Mexican with a brutal left
hook to the body with three seconds left in the fourth round to remain
unbeaten (25-0, 20 KOs).
With the stunning memory of his 12th round knockdown by Andrade in their
first fight clearly on his mind, Bute seemed to fight tentatively through
the first three rounds, boxing well enough to win on the scorecards, but
appeared to lack aggressiveness and confidence. But after being backed into
the ropes by Andrade with just over a minute to go in the fourth round, Bute
lashed out with a short left hook to the chin that dropped the Mexican and
turned the fight around.

Bute Finds Unlikely Stardom Up North
By Nat Gottlieb
Like Ricky Hatton in England and Mikkel Kessler in Denmark, Lucian Bute is a
hometown phenomenon in Montreal. He wants to spread his popularity by
fighting in the U.S. and Europe. But first the unbeaten champion has
unfinished business to take care of at home.
Call it love at first sight. When the Romanian-born Bute adopted Montreal as
his hometown six years ago, the city adopted him in turn. The passion
Montrealers show for Bute regularly sells out major arenas and translates
into big numbers on television. In a country where hockey is almost a
religion, Bute has single-handedly done the unthinkable: made boxing a close
rival.
